Shoot me now...

I've been away in New York to sit in on a meeting to review the Parts List, Maintenance, and Operations manuals for the commuter trains we sold to Metro-North Railroad. I think I would have had more fun showing up at fighter pratice in armour with a baby harp seal printed on my tabard. Well, at least I would have been able to hit back. The client is a son-of-a-bitch to deal with, ctitiquing every single bit of information we provided to them. Yes, they are the people paying the big bucks for the product, but ya know... I was also told that I would be the only writer available to work on this project in the new year, as the department aparently does not have any more resources to put additional people on the project. In fact, they're thinking of doing more cuts (15% I was told).

The weekend went off without too many worries. Nothing exciting to report: got most of the Christmas shopping done, put up the Cristmas tree, and wrapped the presents. I couldn't help but feel that I spent a third of my weekend washing dishes, though...

Tam (my beloved) is having a hard time with her lab's move to her temporary arrangements (her entire lab is being renovated). What that usually means back at home is that I get supper ready, and do all the dishes, and a good chunk of the cleaning, while she does more work-related stuff at home, leaving me with the little time I have left to relax and turn my brain off. I brought her home from the university at 8:30pm last night, with her coleague Laura in tow, so that we can show her our place since she will be cat-sitting for us while we're in South Carolina over the later half of the holidays. In exchange, we'll be taking care of her cats from the 23rd to the 26th. After we drove Laura home, and did a quick tour of her digs, we were home at 11:00pm, and Tam FINALLY had supper. She hardly ate anything all day...

I've got a million things I need to do, and little or no time to do them all. I had hoped to have started on some of the backlog scrolls I had planned to do, have the financials for CIS finished, and have the spare room in the apartment cleared and re-organised for use. My office desk is a mess (I "should" just toss everything out and start fresh, but I won't). Tam's right - we need a maid.

So, tonight is the SCA Schola, I'm meeting Phillipe (for CIS financials) on Wednesday or Thursday (depending on his availability), I've got the Chanu-mas-yule party at Freya's on Friday (need to pick up doughnuts), Christmas Eve at my sister's on Saturday, Christmas Day at Mom and Dad's, and either Boxing Day or the day after that is the first leg of the 15 hour drive down to South Carolina.

AAAHHHH!

No rest for the wicked...
